Overview

The Families OverComing Under Stress for Early Childhood program (FOCUS-EC) is a trauma-informed, family-centered preventive intervention designed to enhance resilience in families with young children that have experienced trauma or adversity (Mogil et al., 2015). 

This Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR) Seminar will describe the conceptual foundations of FOCUS-EC and present the primary findings from the randomized controlled trial. It will also present ongoing work on the FOCUS-EC model, including examining the heterogeneity of intervention effects across ethnic groups, and integration of evidence-based approaches to enhancing early childhood sibling relationships (Kennedy & Kramer, 2008; Ravindran et al., 2015).
