Yvonne Sun, LCSW obtained her Master of Arts Degree from Northern Arizona University in Clinical Healthy Psychology and her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Southern California. Since 1999, Ms. Sun has worked at Special Service for Groups, Inc. a 501(c)(3) social service organization based in Los Angeles, California. For the last two decades, Ms. Sun’s role at the organization has in part focused on the provision and advocacy of cultural and linguistically appropriate services for Asian and Pacific Islanders suffering from health and behavioral health conditions. In 2001, Ms. Sun lead one of the first projects in California that focused on providing behavioral health education to Asian and Pacific Islander Older Adults. Following the completion of this project in 2003, Ms. Sun began her tenure as manager of the organizations senior services program. Concurrently, Ms. Sun co-chairs the Older Adult committee of the AAPI Equity Alliance. AAPI Equity Alliance is a coalition of community-based organizations that advocates for the rights and needs of the Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) Community in the greater Los Angeles area, with a particular focus on low-income, immigrant, refugee, and other disadvantaged sectors of the population. Ms. Sun currently serves as the director of SSG SILVER, a division of Special Service for Groups focused on developing community-based solutions to meet the needs of disabled adults, older adults, and their caregivers so that they can continue to live with dignity in an environment of their choosing.
