About
Dr. Cagigas is a bilingual clinical/research neuropsychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA. He is currently Co-Director of the Cultural Neuropsychology Program and Associate Director of the newly formed Hispanic Neuropsychiatric Center of Excellence within the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. He is the Immediate-Past President of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society, and founding director of the UCLA Cultural Neuropsychology Initiative, which was one of the first bilingual/bicultural neuropsychological assessment training and clinical services in the country. Dr. Cagigas has previously received funding from NINDS, NIMH, and most recently from the Foundation for Psychocultural Research. His current research interests examine the neurocognitive correlates of bilingualism and other cultural variables within psychosis, healthy community members, and neurosurgical populations.
