Arati Vasan has been a senior managing attorney at the Family Violence Appellate Project (FVAP) since 2018. In her role, she represents survivors of family and gender-based violence on appeal, manages FVAP’s training programs, and provides technical assistance to attorneys and advocates. Arati also focuses on trauma-informed representation and services, language justice, and family/dependency court issues for survivors, including mandated reporting and confidentiality. Prior to FVAP, she spent a decade in legal services representing survivors in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was admitted to practice law in California in 2008 and to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019.
