About
Jewel Forbes is a project director for LACOE’s Community Health and Safe Schools in Student Support Services. Serving as the lead for school counseling and mental health, Forbes was awarded the 2019 County Administrator of the Year. She has worked in the education setting with a focus on student services for over 20 years. In her current role, Forbes provides training, technical assistance and support to the county’s 80 school districts while serving as LACOE liaison with county and state organizations. She is co-chair of the Network Against Hate Crime Commission and serves as the lead for the Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education (HTYPE) grant. She currently serves on advisory committees for the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, Office of Violence Prevention, Trauma Prevention Initiative, Los Angeles vs. Hate campaign, Office of Youth Diversion and Development, and Southern California Crossroads Annual Gang Prevention and Intervention Conference.
