Judy Verduzco (she/her) is Public Counsel’s first director of social work. She helps lead the organization’s nationally recognized interdisciplinary model integrating social work into legal advocacy. Since joining Public Counsel in 2007, she has played a key role in expanding trauma informed, client-centered practices across the agency, including developing policies, supervision structures, staff trainings, and the organization’s Master in Social Work (MSW) Internship program. Judy also oversees workplace wellness initiatives that support staff sustainability and organizational culture. Prior to her current role, she spent 14 years advocating for youth and families within the Child, Youth & Families Advocacy team. Judy holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from UCLA, and is a fellow of the Shriver Center on Poverty Law's Racial Justice Institute.
