About
Yvette Solano (she/her) is a social worker with Public Counsel's Immigrants’ Rights Project (IRP) in the unaccompanied children's team, and as a member of the legal team, she works with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to empower immigrant youth to participate in their legal matter through a trauma informed and strengths-based lens. Much of her work revolves around helping clients navigate difficult and often hostile systems (court accompaniments, accessing special education, accessing mental health services, etc.). With the wider Public Counsel community, Yvette has also facilitated trainings around social work integration and best practices when engaging with clients. Before joining Public Counsel, Yvette worked as a victim advocate with the Victim and Witness Assistance Center at the County of San Luis Obispo District Attorney's Office, where she provided direct services to felony property crime victims and witnesses. Yvette holds a bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master's in social work from the University of Southern California.
