Overview

Sharing affirming words with family members can be fun when you hand out a token alongside the positive message. Tokens are given as a “high five” or way to acknowledge one another in a family or group setting. First, explain the purpose of tokens, then use them during the meeting with a facilitator. The individuals and the facilitators both use the tokens. The Tokens handout can be printed, cut, colored, and given to family members to improve relationship dynamics and increase family connection. For more information on this technique, watch the course, Enhancing Family Engagement Through Adaptive Practices.
