Safety and Crisis Prevention Intervention and Response (2023)

Overview
This training focuses on components pertinent to safety practices and crisis intervention/prevention practices such as preventing crisis, recognizing crisis, responding to crisis, and following up to crisis. This training also covers common issues associated with providing mental health services in street-based outreach to the homeless, home-visits, and urban crime-ridden communities. This training will also describe best practices for identifying/managing issues related to personal space awareness, situational awareness, and exploring the different stages of a crisis: warning signs, assessment, decision making, communication, and the appropriate interventions to use during each crisis stage. Additional topics include self-care and self-monitoring strategies for management of feelings during a crisis. Recorded on April 1, 2020.
