Assisting Clients to Create a Safety Plan
Overview
This training provides an overview of crisis theory and how to apply the theory when working with clients. Several intervention strategies will be reviewed, including one of the four standard care elements for suicide prevention in outpatient behavioral health care settings: the Safety Planning Intervention. The Safety Planning Intervention is a core, evidence-based practice element for intervening with adults with suicide and other risk factors.
Videos and practice vignettes will be used to demonstrate the basic elements and allow for participant practice and interaction. This training does not offer CE's.
