Overview

This training is an overview of symptoms and presentations consistent with major psychiatric disorders. It is a refresher for experienced mental health clinicians, and an ideal introduction for those new to mental health. While specific diagnoses are discussed, the emphasis is on symptoms and how individuals may experience those symptoms. The training is person-centered and recovery-focused. The use of vignettes and examples also helps to demonstrate the challenges that people with psychiatric disorders face in their daily lives. Anytime session recorded on July 16, 2025.

Keywords: DSM-5, psychiatric disorders and symptoms, recovery-oriented care
