Humility Is A Superpower! Cultivating Culturally Sensitive Practices for Mental Health Providers
Overview
This training provides an informal, inclusive discussion about cultural humility, and how it fosters culturally-sensitive trauma-informed care. Research suggests that in a multicultural world where power imbalances exist, cultural humility is a process of openness, self-awareness, and incorporating self-reflection when interacting with diverse individuals. The results of [practicing] cultural humility are mutual empowerment, respect, optimal care, and lifelong learning. Cultural humility helps us better understand (and disrupt) barriers to more effective, humane, equitable, and collaborative person-centered care. This training will review what we know about culturally-sensitive care, and explore the humble wisdom of identifying and cultivating what we don’t know. Recorded on June 22, 2021.
Please note that CEs are only available by attending the live virtual training, not the anytime session.
