Overview

Intensive team-based mental health models of care have been shown to reduce psychiatric hospital use, increase housing stability, and improve symptoms and subjective quality of life for people with severe mental illness (Bond & Drake, 2015; Spivak et al., 2019). Research also suggests that the more closely mental health programs follow evidence-informed practices related to areas such as multidisciplinary team configuration, program structure, and service array, the better the outcomes. This training will clarify a set of best practices for Full Service Partnership (FSP) teams using a program logic model. It will also define and review the concept of fidelity and quality improvement, and the application of these concepts to assess the implementation of best practices and improve the quality of care among FSP teams. Anytime session recorded on July 19, 2023.

Learning objectives

  • Clarify FSP best practices as illustrated by a program logic model depicting program components and relationships among key inputs, activities, outputs, and client outcomes in the FSP program
  • Define the concept of program fidelity and review an FSP fidelity scale to assess the degree to which teams are aligned with best FSP practices
  • Introduce the concept of continuous quality improvement and its relevance to assessing fidelity and improvement-related goals in FSP

Full Service Partnership (FSP) Learning Collaborative Training Series

The Full Service Partnership (FSP) Learning Collaborative Training Series will review evidence-informed practices for FSP team-based care related to areas such as multidisciplinary team configuration, program structure, and service array to support teams in improving quality of life for those they serve. These trainings will clarify FSP best practices using a program logic model, which delineates key program components and activities underlying FSP transformation-related efforts. It will also include quality improvement activities that FSP providers can practice with their colleagues. The nine FSP-related training topics ...

Maximizing FSP Service Array for Program Effectiveness

A key factor in helping to ensure positive outcomes among individuals with severe mental illness who are served by intensive mental health programs such as Full Service Partnership (FSP), is the provision of a full array of psychosocial services by the FSP team (Bond & Drake, 2015; Crystal et al., 2015). This training will review FSP service array components and operationalize evidence-informed sets of activities involved in the array, such as those related to financial, employment, housing, community integration, substance use, and psychiatric services, among ...

Lessons Learned: Sustaining Continuous Quality Improvement in FSP

During this final session of the Full Service Partnership (FSP) learning collaborative training series, we will revisit an overview of best FSP practices as operationalized by an FSP fidelity scale (Gilmer et al., 2013). Intensive mental health interventions implemented with high fidelity are more likely to achieve the intended client outcomes originally targeted by the program (Herinckx, 2021). Therefore, the fidelity scale will be used to help training participants identify goals for ongoing quality improvement related to alignment with core FSP model components. Those who ...
