Overview

Disasters impact not only our physical environment, but also the mental health and resilience of our communities. This training explores the diverse ways disasters affect individuals and providers, offering tools such as psychological first aid, long-term recovery strategies, and methods for fostering community resilience. Designed for healthcare providers, social workers, educators, and frontline staff, this session emphasizes practical skills for both professional and personal use. With the recent Los Angeles fires that highlighted the urgent need for preparedness and emotional care, this workshop will equip participants with strategies to better support themselves and the communities they serve during times of crisis. This training is intended for field-based mental health and outreach workers in Los Angeles County.
