Overview


This training introduces a disability justice-centered framework for understanding psychosis. Participants will learn empowering, person-centered language for discussing experiences of psychosis in ways that reduce stigma and avoid pathologizing. Through didactic instruction and videos featuring individuals with lived experience, participants will explore culturally responsive approaches to engaging and supporting adults experiencing psychosis. Participants will learn practical strategies for building trust and fostering collaborative relationships with individuals experiencing psychosis. The training will also highlight strengths-based approaches that promote hope, autonomy, and meaningful community participation for individuals experiencing psychosis. This training is intended for field-based mental health and outreach workers in Los Angeles County.
