Alyssa Ayon earned her BA in sociology from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and her MSW from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She is a proud Los Angeles native and feels a strong connection to the city she grew up in. Before working at the UCLA Prevention Center of Excellence (COE), Alyssa provided crisis intervention and emergency response services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her work also includes gender-based violence prevention, education, and advocacy with the mission of building equitable systems and empowering survivors. Alyssa’s areas of research include suicide prevention, sexual violence, domestic violence, and other forms of familial violence. She is passionate about social justice, community-based healing, and restorative practices.
