Overview


An overview of stress and trauma and the potential impacts on interpersonal communication is provided. The core elements of effective communication are presented through a series of examples. The main barriers to effective communication, including linguistic, emotional, physical, attitudinal, systemic, cultural, psychological, organizational, and technological are discussed. The importance of a trauma and resilience framework for effective communication is covered. A strategic approach to engaging in trauma sensitive communication is reviewed.
