Overview
When communicating with community members, establishing trust and connection is essential to support an understanding of vaccines, especially the COVID-19 vaccines. Additionally, honoring and acknowledging previous challenges with healthcare access and experiences with healthcare providers can be helpful when navigating worry and uncertainty with community members receiving vaccines. Here to discuss empowering communication strategies is Dr. Jae Lee, Professor and Epidemiologist at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Learning objectives
- Explain the importance of sharing accurate, relevant, and up-to-date information
- Describe ways to support the reduction of vaccine hesitancy: Honor previous experiences around healthcare access and with healthcare providers, tap into emotions, and be clear about motivations.
