Preparing to Reopen: Prioritizing Prevention
Overview
The last few weeks have shifted our experience of the world, the work we do, and how we affect real change in the communities we serve. As soon as we were beginning to adjust to the stressors of the pandemic, our community was devastated by the murders of Black men and women in media. Dr. Jon Sherin joins Dr. Tyrone Howard to discuss specific considerations concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, racial realities of our community, and the role of prevention in supporting wellbeing and combating stigma. Dr; Sherin, MD, PhD is the Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and Dr. Howard is a Professor of Education, Director of the Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families and Director of the Black Male Institute at UCLA.
