AAPI Phases of Treatment: Active Care and Interventions

Overview
The AAPI community encompasses a wide range of countries, ethnicities, nationalities and identities. As the third training in our Asian American Pacific Islander series, we will examine historical and cultural influences that have impacted the experience of trauma within this community. Trauma creates many physical and mental reactions that present differently across cultures. By focusing on culturally informed care, we will increase our capacity to provide quality informed interventions that acknowledges, honors, and integrates clients’ historical experiences, cultural values, beliefs, and practices. We will delve deeper into culturally sensitive care to better understand how culture serves multiple functions in psychotherapy and can be used as a roadmap in regard to mental health treatment. Recorded on January 16 & February 3, 2022.
