Ask the Expert: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (Session 1)
Overview
This interactive series is a space for mental health providers to ask questions and further their knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). These Ask the Expert sessions are for those who have completed the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders training with Dr. Kathryn Page. This training may have been completed on the Wellbeing for LA Learning Center or separately with the Department of Mental Health.
During Session 1, Dr. Page will spend the first few minutes reviewing the key points from the basic FASD training and then move to a discussion based on questions that have come up from that training. In Session 2, she will briefly discuss common challenges in working with individuals, families, and specifically children in the foster system affected by FASD. Then Dr. Page will open the conversation to questions and comments from participants’ own experiences. Screening, diagnosis, adaptations to traditional treatments, and caregiver support will be the focus of this session.
