Overview

This series of videos covers a variety as they relate to trauma informed care. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into the systems involved in the neurochemical stress response that is activated by traumatic experiences. This biological discussion helps us to understand the behaviors that can often frustrate clinicians, but are often signs of significant trauma, and have served a purpose of protection and resiliency. Trauma informed practices are discussed, beginning with the establishment of a trusting relationship that acknowledges the need for each person to have a sense of safety and control. Clinical treatment for mental health diagnoses that may result from stress, fear, and trauma are highlighted. There is an emphasis on provider wellbeing throughout the use of trauma informed interventions to maintain a healthy practice.
