Overview

Intensive Engagement for Field-Based Practice is a learning pathway designed for a range of service providers from Countywide Engagement Division programs and other field-based providers working in similar programs (e.g., case managers, mental health clinicians, nurse practitioners, housing specialists, peer providers, and substance use specialists among others). It is ideal for both new staff and seasoned service providers to ground their work in evidence-based practices and strengthen skills to work with clients who are often disengaged from services, including those experiencing challenges related to housing instability, mental health, substance use, and frequent hospitalizations. For more questions/information about this pathway, please review our FAQ.

Intensive Engagement for Field-Based Practice is based on four pillars of knowledge and skill development, which inform the Public Mental Health Partnership (PMHP) training strategy. These include:

  1. Recovery-Oriented Care
  2. Trauma-Informed Care
  3. Harm Reduction
  4. Systems-Oriented Care

This pathway provides a suggested guideline for engagement in trainings covering these core topics. It also provides a variety of special topic training opportunities that align with each of the four pillars.

Any issues or questions about navigating the Intensive Engagement for Field-Based Practice pathway? Please email us at pmhp@mednet.ucla.edu.
