Understanding Best Practices in FSP

Overview
Intensive team-based mental health models of care have been shown to reduce psychiatric hospital use, increase housing stability, and improve symptoms and subjective quality of life for people with severe mental illness (Bond & Drake, 2015; Spivak et al., 2019). Research also suggests that the more closely mental health programs follow evidence-informed practices related to areas such as multidisciplinary team configuration, program structure, and service array, the better the outcomes. This training will clarify a set of best practices for Full Service Partnership (FSP) teams using a program logic model. It will also define and review the concept of fidelity and quality improvement, and the application of these concepts to assess the implementation of best practices and improve the quality of care among FSP teams. Anytime session recorded on July 19, 2023.
Learning objectives
- Clarify FSP best practices as illustrated by a program logic model depicting program components and relationships among key inputs, activities, outputs, and client outcomes in the FSP program
- Define the concept of program fidelity and review an FSP fidelity scale to assess the degree to which teams are aligned with best FSP practices
- Introduce the concept of continuous quality improvement and its relevance to assessing fidelity and improvement-related goals in FSP
