Complex Trauma Informed Practices
Overview
This training introduces the subjects of complex trauma and complex post-traumatic stress disorder, providing foundational information on how to identify and understand complex trauma in clinical and social service settings. It will provide information on the differences between acute and complex trauma, how complex trauma affects individuals' functioning, and how complex trauma shows up in co-morbid mental health conditions. Participants will also learn about the neurobiology and physiological foundation of complex trauma, and what needs to occur for complex trauma symptoms to be successfully treated.
By taking this training, service providers will learn concrete tools to assess where individuals are in the phases of trauma treatment, and will be provided appropriate services in order to support trauma recovery and avoid retraumatization. It is intended for field-based mental health and outreach workers in Los Angeles County. Anytime session recorded on May 20, 2024.
