Clinical Learning Pathway for Trauma Informed Strategies for Working With Individuals With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Overview
This learning pathway is designed for mental health clinicians who provide services to individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID), developmental disabilities (DD), and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), as well as their families. Participants will review the foundations and differential diagnoses for ID, DD, and ASD and practice using trauma and resilience informed strategies for youth, adults, and their families. Additionally, participants will learn how to help individuals minimize the potential impacts of trauma and distress. Lastly, participants will be introduced to important strategies to care for themselves while doing this work.
This pathway includes three parts: Verifying that you are a licensed, registered, or waivered mental health clinician, viewing the recorded virtual training "Trauma Informed Strategies for Working With Individuals With ID/DD/ASD for Clinical Staff," and completing the "Enhancing Professional Wellbeing" course.
